Abstract
This invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to a composition of steel for rails. The purpose of the invention is to increase the contact fatigue strength and durability of steel. This is achieved by the fact that the steel additionally contains niobium and copper in the following ratio of components, wt.%: Carbon 0.65-0.85; silicon 0.18- 0.40; manganese 0.60-1.20; aluminum 0.005-0.04; nitrogen 0,004-0,011; Calcium or magnesium 0.0005-0.015; zirconium 0.001-0.01; niobium 0.004-0.040; copper 0.05-0.30; iron else. Description
This invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, in particular, to the construction of a steel for heavy-duty railway rails.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the contact fatigue strength and durability of steel.
Рельсы подвергают объемной закалке в масле и отпуску (нагрев под закалку до 850 С, отпускThe proposed and well-known steel became goth in 440-ton open-hearth furnaces. Ingots weighing 8.23 tons are pierced onto rail type P65. The rails are subjected to volumetric hardening in oil and tempering (heating for quenching to 850 С, tempering
при 450°С в течение 2 ч).at 450 ° C for 2 h).
The chemical composition and properties of steel are given in the table.
Долговечность рельсов оцени- вают по результатам полигонных испытаний .Impact toughness is determined on a workman's pile on standard samples of the Type Cuff with a round notch. The toughness values are taken as the average of the test results of at least three samples. The mechanical properties of the rails are determined on Gagamera specimens using standard techniques. Contact fatigue strength is assessed according to the results of bench tests conducted on a special method. The durability of the rails is estimated by the results of field tests.

The results of testing the properties of rails show that the known steel contact-fatigue strength and durability of the rails is lower than that of the proposed steel.
