Abstract

FIELD: cryogenic engineering. SUBSTANCE: cryostat has partition made of freely floating finely divided powder whose density exceeds density of normal helium but is lower than density of superfluid helium. Foam plastic, polyurethane foam and other materials can be used to make powder. In process of cooling by helium when λ point is attained, powder floats up above more dense mass of superfluid helium and divides cryostat into baths, and so design is simplified, reliability is enhanced and control of superfluid helium temperature is facilitated. EFFECT: simplified design, enhanced efficiency and reliability. 1 dwg
