Description

Usually, the fight against skin gadfly is accomplished by killing adult female gadflies that accumulate around the herd. To do this, deer are systematically sprayed with a combined emulsion of DDT and hexachlorane. However, with such treatment, the herds have a significant infestation of the grub larva. In this connection, deer leather is the most valuable raw material for the manufacture of glove and technical suede, and is of poor quality.

The idea of the destruction of the larvae of the skin gadfly of reindeer in the early period of their development was expressed a long time ago. There have been attempts to develop in the deer immunity to the larvae. Various chemical and therapeutic preparations were also tested to kill the first-stage larvae. However, all these experiments did not give positive results. A number of drugs (Bayer L 13/59, chlorophos, Dow ET-57, and others), which provide a high propente of mortality of the larvae in cattle, do not give effect in experiments with the larvae of the reindeer gadfly. Some of the drugs tested were found to be poisonous for deer.

A distinctive feature of the described method for the destruction of the skin gadfly larvae is their almost 100% destruction at the early stages of development in the body of the carrier — sal. For this purpose, the deer is injected intramuscularly or subcutaneously with an organophosphorus compound of the systemic action of 0,0-dimethyl-5-a-mercapto-M-methyl acetamide dodiophosphate in the form of alcoholic or oily or aqueous solutions at a concentration of, for example, 5-15% and doses for example, 15 to 100 mg / kg live weight. Possible cottage deer m specified drug also with food.

The use of the drug causes a high percentage of larvae to die, without adversely affecting reindeer.

The method of destroying the larvae of the skin gadfly of reindeer, characterized in that, in order to destroy the parasite larvae in the early period of their development in the body of the carrier, the latter is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously, or organophosphorus compound of systemic action with feed. -a-mercapto-N-methylacetamidodithiophosphate in the form of alcoholic or oily or aqueous solutions in a concentration of, for example, 5-15% and doses, for example, from 15 to 100 mg 1 kg of live weight.
