Description

Constructions of machines for harvesting Cote tubods are known, having digging blades, a chain-slat conveyor used to lift the product and sift the soil, and a rotating drum for separating soil clumps from tubers.

In such machines, tubers are not well cleaned from the soil due to the fact that the size of soil lumps is close to the size of tubers.

The proposed machine, mainly intended for harvesting onion turnips, differs from the known ones in that the rotating drum for separating soil lumps has a stepped surface formed by elastic cantilever rods and a casing with an auger located inside. When the drum is rotated, a mass consisting of soil lumps and bulbs is put on its steps, which presses against the rods. Since the specific gravity of the onions is much smaller than the specific gravity of the soil, the lumps of the latter bend back the rods and slip through the gaps between the rods into the inside of the drum. The auger placed in the drum pulls clumps of soil out.

The machine consists (Fig. 1) of trenching plowshares 1, having the form of a trough; a beater-feeder 2 with a series of elastic fingers 3; slat conveyor 4, fenced from sides with shields 5; a device 6 for separating lumps of soil and a bunker 7 for bulbs.

The device for separating soil lumps from l combs (Fig. 2) consists of a drum S, a fixed chute 9 and a discharge screw 10 placed in the chute.

Pickled plowshares of a bunch of onions are additionally loose and fed by the beater 2 to the conveyor 4, the beater 2 rotates forcibly and, thanks to the elasticity of its fingers, does not damage the bulbs.

Going to the transporter, a mass of soil and bulbs is sifted on it, and small particles of soil fall down. Bulbs and larger clumps fall onto the drum and roll between steps. Since the rods are made resilient and the specific gravity of the soil is larger than the onions, soil lumps bend over the rods and fall through the gap between the ends of the rods and the ledges inside the drum into the groove 9. The rotating screw W takes the soil lumps out. The bulbs roll onto the surface of the drum and dump into the hopper 7, which is periodically emptied.

Subject invention

An onion turnip harvesting machine using digging blades, a chain-slat conveyor for sifting soil and a device for separating soil lumps from the bulbs in the form of a rotating drum, characterized in that the drum has a stepped surface formed by resilient, cantilever rods and inside it is a casing with a discharge screw, in order to remove soil lumps inside the drum when the bars deflect due to their greater specific weight.
