Description

BASIC Auth. St. No. 113980 described a photoelectric instrument for sediometric analysis with a moving sensor, which allows photometric measurement of the suspension in height.

The described photoelectric device is simpler in design. Its peculiarity lies in the fact that a system of prisms or mirrors is mounted on the turntable, and the light source and photomultiplier are fixed.

12.The drawing shows a schematic of the device. The photomultiplier / and the light source 2 with a lens 3 and a diaphragm are fixed. Inside the hollow shaft 4, driven in rotation from the engine 5, are placed prisms b and 7 (or mirrors). On the disks 8 and 9, mounted on the shaft 4, the prisms W and; / are fixed. All prisms are located at an angle of 45 °. Optical cuvette 12 is located between disks 5 and 9.

The light beam from the source 2 by the prism 6 is reflected on the prism 10, which turns the beam 90 ° and directs it perpendicular to the wall of the optical cell 12 on the prism //. Pass through a prism; a beam hits a prism 7, passes through it, and is directed to a fixed photomultiplier /. Since the rotation of the shaft 4 with the disks 5 and 5 occurs vertical sweep of the beam (around the circumference), the light l: Uch looks through the cell 12 at all levels. The current from the photomultiplier is fed to the input of the oscilloscope.

At photometry of the suspension over its height, various densities are observed, which correspond to the curve on the screen (tape) of the oscilloscope in the photocurrent-time coordinates. This curve /, it is easy to transform into the dependence of the photocurrent-cell level. The curve is photographed from the screen at the moment immediately preceding the loss of the coarsest fraction. This time point is the most advantageous for fixing the curve, since the highest accuracy of the analysis is achieved.
