The invention relates to methods for producing a sorbent for the purification of gases from Clj, Br, HF, fluorine oxides and fluorine anhydrides of fluororganic acids, and can be used in chemical engineering.

The purpose of the invention is to increase the sorption capacity for chlorine and bromine and to increase the degree of purification from fluorine oxides.

Example 1. When preparing 1 ton of sorbent by treating wood waste with an alkaline solution and adding a reducing agent, use 0.55-0.6 tons of caustic soda and not more than 0.08-0.1 tons of a reducing agent (sulfite or sodium or potassium thiosulfate). The solution after separation, mercerized wood is reused.
