The preparation Diocide is a mixture consisting of 1 wt. h. cetylpyridine bromide and 2 wt. including ethanolmercuric chloride in the form of a white powder, odorless, soluble in alcohol, hot water, and somewhat slower in cold water.
1: 123000.Dicide has a bactericidal action against various bacteria, bacterial spores, as well as an active action against fungal flora at a concentration of from 1: 8000 to 1: 123000.
йодной настойкой дл смазывани кистей и пальцев не пользуютс .The surgeon's hand treatment is applied at a concentration of from 1: 2000 to 1: 2500 when the hands are contaminated with purulent discharges, and a weaker concentration of 1: 5000 is used in other cases. Hand processing is done in a clean enamelled basin with a sterile gauze cloth for 2-3 minutes. followed by drying the hands with a sterile napkin and processing with pure alcohol for 1-2 minutes. Iodine tincture is not used to lubricate the hands and fingers.
During long-term storage, the dicycide powder, consisting of a mixture of two preparations, changes its color to brown and acquires an unpleasant odor without losing its bactericidal properties. For convenience of use, the diocide is not produced as a mixture of two drugs, but as tablets of cetylpyridinium bromide and ethanol mercourt chloride, 13 of which a solution of the required concentration is prepared.
In a solution, the diocide retains its bactericidal effect for 3 months.
The Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Health of the USSR authorized the use of the drug Diocide as a disinfectant in medical practice.
