The invention relates to non-destructive testing by an acoustic method and can be used to determine the location of a leak on the surface of a test item. The aim of the invention is to improve the performance and accuracy of leak detection. 1 shows a block diagram of an acoustic leak detector; figure 2 - graphs of the output signals at individual points in the scheme of an acoustic leak detector; FIG. 3 shows the curve of the operator’s perception of the volume of sound from the pitch; in fig. 4 - the same, perception of sound volume and pitch from the magnitude of the microphone's distance from the leak. The acoustic leak detector contains a microphone 1 in series, a signal processing unit 2, a volume controller 3, a measuring amplifier 4 and an indicator 5, as well as a power amplifier 6 and headphones connected to it 7. The leak detector also contains a reference voltage source 8, a comparator 9 and serially connected regulating element 10, tunable generator 11, amplitude modulator 12 and key 13. The output of measuring amplifier 4 is connected to the input of regulating element 10 and the input of the amplitude modulator 12, and The key input 13 is connected to the output of the comparator 9, one of the inputs of which is connected to the volume control 3, and the second input to the source 8 of the reference voltage. The signal processing unit 2 of this leak detector includes a series-connected band-pass filter 14, a high-frequency amplifier 15, a detector 16 and a low-frequency filter 17. Acoustic leak detector works as follows. Acoustic signals from a leak in a given range of ultrasonic frequencies are fed to microphone 1 and converted by it into electrical signals of the same frequencies. These signals enter the processing unit 2, where they pass through a band-pass filter 14, are amplified by a high-frequency amplifier 15 and detected by the detector 16. A low-frequency filter 17 highlights these signals and enters the volume control 3 (Fig. 2a). From the output of the loudness controller 3, the signals are fed to the input of the measuring amplifier 4, and then to the indicator 5. Simultaneously, from the output of the measuring amplifier 4, signals go to the regulating element 10 and to the input of the amplitude modulator 12. The regulating element 10 is included in the control circuit of the tunable generator 11 therefore, the change in voltage at the output of the measuring amplifier 4 through the regulating element 10 contributes to the change in the frequency of the tunable generator 11. At the same time, as the voltage increases at the output of the measuring amplitude l 4 increases the frequency at the output of the tunable generator L 1 (fig. 2b). Thus, the maximum signal from the leak corresponds to the maximum voltage of the signal at the output of the measuring amplifier 4 and the maximum frequency at the output of the tunable generator 11. Signals from the output of the tunable generator 11 are fed to an amplitude modulator 12, the modulating voltage for which is also the voltage From the output of the measuring amplifier 4. The output of the amplitude modulator 12 is a pulse signal, in which the maximum frequency and maximum amplitude correspond to the maximum signal alu leak from (2c). In the case when the signal from the output of the volume regulator 3 exceeds the threshold voltage of the source 8 of the reference voltage, the comparator 9 is triggered, which opens the key 13, and the signal from the output of the amplitude modulator 12 is fed through the power amplifier 6 to the headphone 7. The output signal of the comparator 9 and the amplifier 6. The power is represented respectively in FIG. 2d and 2d. Headphones 7 emit a complex tone and amplitude modulated sound signal. In this leak detector, the frequency of the generator 11 being tunable is selected in the range of 100-500 Hz, and the dependence of this frequency on the amplitude of the envelope voltage is linear in the selected frequency range. Thus, the perception (L) of the sound volume operator increases with increasing pitch, which is equivalent to sharpening the envelope curve at the output of the amplitude detector 16. The same effect is obtained when the directivity pattern of microphone 1 is narrowed, which leads to an additional increase in the accuracy of the location of the leak (Fig .З, I is the signal emitted by headphones; II is the signal perceived by the operator’s hearing aid). Consequently, at the location of the leak detection, the output signal of this device has a maximum pitch and a maximum perceptual volume characteristic of a leak of a certain intensity (size). The leaks of other sizes are characterized by different maximum tones and their corresponding maximum volume levels. These parameters of the audio signal are interconnected by a hard correlation dependence, the maximum of which coincides with the maximum of the envelope at the output of the detector 16, i.e. maximum intensity at the point of leakage. The curves of the perception of the sound level by the operator and the pitch of the detuning (± Л1) for leaks with different intensities (sizes) are shown in Fig. 4, where D1 is the detuning value characterizing the distance of the microphone 1 from the leak.
