Description

Increasing the water resistance and durability of the skin and colony parts by impregnating them with dispersions of synthetic high polymers, for example polyisobutylene, is known. In addition, volatile organic solvents such as gasoline, benzene, etc., are usually used to dissolve or disperse the latter, which complicates and increases the cost of the process, due to the need for subsequent removal of the solvent from the impregnated skin and its recovery.

In order to eliminate these drawbacks, a method for treating leather and leather parts with hydrophobic solutions or dispersions of the above high polymers is proposed, consisting in the fact that solid hydrocarbons, such as high melting paraffin, are used as a solvent (or dispersant).

40-50% .Example. A substitute detail from the loose topographic section of the crank with a moisture holding of 10-12% is immersed in a solution of polyisobutylene (molecular weight of 40,000) in high-melting paraffin. The temperature of the solution is 70-90 °, the duration of through impregnation is several minutes. To eliminate plaque on the surface of the impregnated part, it is additionally heated in a thermostat or under an infrared illuminator. As a result, the strength of parts for abrasion (on a standard device UKRPIKP) increases by 40-50%.
