Description

This invention relates to methods and devices for measuring the specific gravity of molten salts and fluxes.

The known similar methods and devices, based on the weighing of a melt dipped and suspended: a platinum or quartz body coated on a platinum filament, have significant drawbacks, since they are not accurate enough.

The proposed method and device are free from the indicated disadvantages. The method is based on the well-known physical law, which states that at the same vacuum, the height of the elevation of a column of liquids in tubes, which are lowered into vessels with different liquids, is inversely proportional to the specific gravity of liquids.

As can be seen from the diagram in the drawing, the device for measuring the specific gravity of the melts consists of a graphite crucible / s melt, a vessel with water 2, a quartz tube 3 installed in the crucible, and a stack. tubes 4 installed in a vessel with water, a pump 5 that creates a vacuum in the tubes, thermoelectrodes 6 installed in a crucible at different levels and connected to galvanometers 7, and skhlya 8 for measuring

To determine the specific gravity of the melt, a pump creates a vacuum inside the tubes installed in the tube and in the vessel with water. Due to the decomposition, the levels of melt and water in the tubes will begin to rise. By raising the level of the melt in the quartz tube to the lower thermoelectrode, the arrow of the galvanometer reads a push. This jMOMeHT indicates the water level in the glass tube. Continuing to increase the vacuum inside the tubes, note the water level in the glass tube at the moment when the melt in the quartz tube rises to the end of the upper thermoelectrode, which is determined by the throw of the arrow of the galvanometer. When fixing at one time the lowering of the levels of the melt and water in the crucible and vessel while filling, the specific gravity of the melt can be determined from the following expression:

., .. .+Si..., ... + Si

где:Where:

и 7s- удельные веса расплава и воды в г/с/,and 7s - specific gravities of the melt and water in g / s /,

/,,-,- рассто ние в мм между концами/ ,, -, - distance in mm between the ends
