Abstract

The proposed excess pressure valve (10) for packaging containers (1) has a flexible valve diaphragm (11, 31) which is attached by its parallel edge regions (12, 13; 31, 32) and covers a hole in the packaging wall (2). In order to protect the packaging container (1) with the excess pressure valve (10) from theft, an alarm-triggering device (5) is incorporated in the excess pressure valve (10). The alarm-triggering device (5) is in the form of a strip which is glued to the valve diaphragm (11, 31) on one of the attachment edge regions (12, 13; 32, 33).

Description

Technical field

The invention relates to a pressure relief valve for packaging.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

In order to prevent any unacceptable pressure build-up in the coffee packs due to the released carbon dioxide from the packaged coffee and to allow air oxygen to enter the pack, a pressure relief valve is fixed in the wall of the package through a borehole, known for example from EP -A-00 23 703. This pressure relief valve has a resilient valve membrane which is glued by two parallel edge zones directly or indirectly to the wall of the package, leaving a free central channel. In addition, the pressure relief valve has spacing-retaining strips adhered to the adhesive zones of the valve diaphragm to prevent the adjacent casing from interfering with the function of the free central liftable diaphragm. Expensive products are known to be protected against theft. For this purpose, the valve zones in the self-service stores have packaging or adhesive labels which are embedded in which an alarm device in the form of a signal strip is incorporated. If such a label is not unlocked at the cash register, the alarm device at the exit will trigger an alarm.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide coffee containers with a pressure relief valve which is easy to put on.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A pressure relief valve for containers with a valve membrane attached to the wall of the container overlying the vent in the wall of the container consists in that the pressure relief valve is connected to a device in the form of a thin wafer or strip, actuating the alarm.

The pressure relief valve, produced in large quantities, can simply be equipped with a known alarm-actuating device. This makes it possible to affix the alarm signaling device to the packages together with the valve, without requiring any further special operation. Another advantage is that the alarm device is discreetly connected to the package.

By further measures, the pressure relief valve can be further improved. Particularly preferred is the arrangement of a strip alarm signaling device at the pressure relief valve in contact with the distance maintaining strips. The invention is illustrated, but not limited, by the following examples and the accompanying drawings.

Examples

Example 1

On the side wall of the container 1, in which, for example, the coffee is tightly packed, a pressure relief valve 10 is mounted above the vent 3 in the wall 2 of the container 1. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the pressure relief valve 10 has a resilient valve membrane 11 in the form of a wafer which, by means of two strip adhesive layers 14, 15, is advantageously adhered to adhesive on the outside of the wall 2 to the two parallel edge zones of the valve membrane

In contrast, in the embodiment of FIG. 4, an alarm signaling device 5 is inserted between the spacing band 42 and the valve diaphragm 31.

The alarm signaling device 5 constitutes an electronic chip and preferably has the form of a strip, so that it can be continuously incorporated into the valve 10 during their strip production by gluing and cutting plastic strips.

In summary, it is recalled that the alarm signaling device 5 can also be incorporated into second valve shapes which deviate from the above exemplary embodiments, which, however, are produced from the film strips.

It is further recalled that to seal the valves 10 in their duct formed by the free central zone 16, 36 of the valve diaphragm 11, 31 and the opposing surface of the container wall 2 or the base plate 37 and the edges of the fastening edge zones 12, 11, 32. be a liquid sealant, for example silicone oil.
