Abstract

The security mechanism for household appliances includes an electric switching assembly (1) with a PTC-resistive element (11) and a preponderating switching spring (12), where on its free end there is a shiftable contact (13), a sliding element (2) for blocking the door handle (6) and a holder (3), which is applied to the free end of the spring (12), and in the position when the handle (6) is in the locked position it reaches into the sliding element (2) opening (21). Between the free end of the spring (12) and the sliding element (2) as well as transverse to them there is a protective distance piece (4) fitting to the excursion protuberation (22) of the sliding element (2) releasing the free end of the spring (12), so that the contact (13) is removed from the home contact (14) even when the spring (12) is hot. When the handle (6) is in its locking position, the distance piece (4) fits to the non-protuberated point of the sliding element (2), so that when the appliance is switched on, the shiftable contact (13) is in contact with the home contact (14). The safety mechanism for household appliances according to the invention very simply enhances the safety of the user.
