Abstract
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MANIPULATING A 3D OBJECT/VOLUME An apparatus orients a display of a 3D object in a pre-defined orientation. A source direction determination module determines a source direction matrix corresponding with the pre-defined orientation. A perspective direction determination module determines a perspective direction matrix. An orientation matrix determination module determines an orientation rotation matrix for the 3D object from the source direction matrix and the perspective direction matrix. An 3D object manipulation module applies the orientation matrix to a 3D object to orient the 3D object. Optionally, the apparatus positions the display of the 3D object. A source position determination module determines a source position. A translated position determination module determines a translated position. A translation matrix determination module determines a translation matrix for the 3D object from the source position and the translated position. The 3D object is positioned by applying the translation matrix to the 3D object responsive to the user selection.
