A diesel fuel preheater device to reduce exhaust smoke emission comprises a tubular sleeve (1) of metal or other material of high thermal conductivity that can be inserted in the top water cooling hose of a diesel engine and which has at or towards each end a portion (2) of increased diameter to retain a fixing clip, and surrounding said sleeve (1) a jacket (3) having an inlet (4) and an outlet (5) for connection to the fuel line of the engine. Preferably, the inlet (4) and outlet (5) are on opposite sides and at opposite ends of the jacket (3).
