Abstract

The device has two grips (17, 31), a wire magazine (29) which can be rotated around a bundle of pieces of wood, and a cutter (23) for the compressed wood layer. A first grip (17) is mounted on a support (17) that can be moved backwards and forwards in an axial direction along a fixed stand (7). A second grip (31) can be collapsed to make it smaller than a rotary ring (28) associated with the magazine, enabling the ring to pass on the outside of this grip when the latter is needed to receive one end of a bundle of pieces of wood.
