Abstract

The block (1) has a top and a bottom (3) surface spaced a distance to define it's thickness and recesses (16, 17) extending from the bottom surface up into the block and with a rear wall (16a, 17a), a recess roof, and an outer (16b, 17b) and inner (16c, 17c) side wall. At least one pin hole (39, 43) extends into the block perpendicularly to the top surface and is located such that its center line extends through the rear region of a rear, outer corner (19, 29) of the recess. The center line of the pin hole can alternatively extend through a point at a distance from the corner in the direction towards the rear surface of the block. This distance is not longer than the extension of the pin hole in that direction. An Independent claim is included for a retaining wall consisting of wall blocks laid to form tiers of wall blocks on top of one another, so that the blocks in each tier are displaced in the lateral direction relative to the blocks in over-lying and under-lying tiers a distance corresponding to half the length of a block
