Abstract
The invention concerns a heat-storage device for a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine (2) designed to heat the engine or other parts that are included in its circuit before the engine is started, that includes a heat-insulated container (7) with an inner volume reserved for storing heated coolant, a displaceable mobile piston device (8) placed into the inner volume that limits the volumes of a first (6) and a second (9) chamber that can be put into and taken out of communication with an inlet and an outlet for the coolant channels of the engine block, a pump (10) by which coolant can be led from the coolant channels of the engine block to the storage container, whereby a valve function is arranged in the storage container so that heated coolant can be made to flow into the storage container while the engine is in use. In order to reduce the number of moving parts, the outlet of the connection that is arranged in the storage container is designed as a channel (24) allowing the first and second chambers (6, 9) to communicate with each other when the piston device (8) is located at a particular position in the storage container, whereby the said channel is arranged to be blocked when the engine is stopped.
