Abstract

A drive device is provided for essentially vertical movement of a grip device rotatable about an axis extending at right angles to the travelling direction of the drive device, between grip and release positions. A control device connected to the grip device can be moved over a vertical distance less than that travelled by the grip device, in order to enable the grip device to be rotated between these two positions. A resilient fitting applies a spring-loading force to the grip device once rotation of it from a release position to a grip position has commenced. An Independent claim is also included for a pallet lifting method using this device.
