Abstract

A base (3) divides the cavity inside the peripheral wall (2) of the socket (1) into two sections (5,6). A light holder is mounted inside the base so it extends into both of these socket cavity sections. The socket supports a transparent casing provided around the light source in e.g. an electric bulb or fluorescent light tube. The socket peripheral wall extends at right angles to the wall or ceiling. The two cavity sections have different sizes and the light holder is mounted by a bayonet fitting.
