Abstract

An implant for implantation in bone tissue has a calcium phosphate coating on a substrate surface of the implant. Prior to depositing the coating the substrate surface is blasted with particles of a titanium oxide. The result of this is a decrease in the rate of dissolution and delamination of the coating when the implant is implanted.
