Abstract

A short cycle press for glueing together compressed carrier panels and upper and lower side facing layers of curable resin or resin films, papers or veneers has piston and cylinder units (2,3) arranged in a row along the central axis (I-I) of a press frame (9). The pistons (3) act against two rectangular cross-section beams (4) to form two pressure application lines (II-II; III-III), one at each side of the central axis (I-I), at the rear of the moveable upper heating platen (5). Spacing between the pressure application lines (II-II; III-III) and the length and breadth of the beams (4) are chosen to give the optimum uniform pressure distribution over the entire surface of the heating platen (5).
