Abstract

A positioning device (500, 510, 520, 600, 630, 640) is mounted in the valve channel (120) to fix the valve rod (115) in one or more of several possible positions, and comprises a piston (500) urged against the top end (122) of the rod by a spring fitting (510). The piston acts as a normal end stop when a chamber (520) at the top end of the rod is pressurised, or it can act as an additional end stop for the rod when there is no pressure inside the chamber. A further spring fitting (150) slidably mounted inside a valve channel chamber at the top end of the rod is used to hold the rod in the neutral position.
