Abstract

A flanged ring (10, 11) with an L-shaped cross-section is placed between the ring-shaped end (4) of the casing (1) and the seat (7) at the opposite end of the rear part (5). The ring is made from a high tensile material and one of the arms of the L is received by a groove (9) in the rear part and extends between the two shell parts, whilst the other arm extends between the seat and ring-shaped end of the casing. The ring forms a firing energy-transferring joint with a high deformation resistance. The rear part fits with its cylindrical contact surface tightly inside the casing, and this part also contains at least one end wall (8) for absorbing radial forces. The rear part has a ring-shaped flange edge forming a seat (7) in contact with the rear end of the casing.
