Abstract

The invention relates to a safety seal for wells. In accordance with the invention the safety seal comprises, in combination, a lid (7) having a face turned towards the well hole wall, and a string (20) of a material that swells upon its contact with a liquid, which string is inserted in the gap between said wall and said lid face.
