Abstract

The light source comprises a number of series-coupled light-emitting diodes (3). The diodes (3) are fitted one after the other on an elongated base (4) for producing an elongated light source. Two or more series couplings of diodes (3) are coupled in parallel. The way indicator part (1) is typically a plastic plate, on which the required information text (e.g. the word "EXIT" and a directional arrow) can be produced with the aid of different transfers. In the body which supports the way indicator plate (1) is arranged the light source which illuminates the way indicator plate through a narrow opening in the body. An elongated base is provided for the light source, such as a narrow strip formed by a printed circuit, to which a number of light diodes (3) are coupled. The light diodes are coupled so that in all nine pieces are series-coupled. This series-coupling is fed from 24 V AC/DC voltage with a rectified voltage, so that the voltage a light diode receives is around 2.2 V.
