Abstract

Packaging tube, having intermediate wall (11) extending across it between pair of joining locations and dividing it into two product-receiving compartments along the whole of its length, is closed at a filling end by introducing a non-contacting hot air nozzle with a gap (21,21a) defining a pair of sub-outlets (19,20) and heating the intermediate wall and inside of the tube before applying clamping means. A forming tool (17) is also applied externally to stretch the intermediate wall across the filling end. Preferred Features: The intermediate wall has pairs of joining locations at its filling end separated by material portions (11a,11b). These portions are brought closer to the inside of the tube by the forming tool which reforms the filling end into a right-angled, four-sided shape. The hot air outlets concentrate heat on the material portions between the joining locations.
