Abstract

The anti-theft control unit comprises a key pad for control of a central unit separate from the key pad. The central unit can be programmed via the key pad and, upon receipt of a certain coded signal from the key pad, enables operation of the vehicle. A timer is connected to the central unit for setting of a certain time for maximum operation of the vehicle, e.g. for hire vehicles, which time can also be set by means of the key pad, and if the time is exceeded the coded signal is deleted so that the vehicle can no longer be driven. - Preferably, the control unit includes an alarm unit to give warning if an attempt is made at misappropriation, e.g. an acoustic alarm if any attempt is made to bypass the ignition switch. Preferably, a radio transmitter is connected to the supply lead for triggering the alarm, in parallel with the ordinary alarm unit, for wireless transmission of signals to a separate receiver with connected alarm unit, for the purpose of also raising the alarm at a place separate from the vehicle, such as the owner's home or work place, or a security company.
