Abstract
The valve body (26) formed as a spherical segment is rotatable around a rotary axis. Devices are provided for rotating the valve body in the valve housing (23) around the rotary axis between a wholly closed position, where the valve body spherical surface (27), i.e. its front side, is in sealed contact with the seat along its whole periphery and an at least partly open position. A damping unit is provided for reducing cavitation and noise in the valve when it is at least partly open and a fluid flows through the valve. In the damping unit is a damping component which has the form of elongated rods, pins, plates, bars or of similar shape, termed as fingers, on a bearer which extends backwards from the rear side of the valve body. The fingers extend laterally from the bearer into the throughflow channel formed when the valve is opened from its closed position.
