Abstract

An apertured flow control plate is lowered into a pipe carrying air, forming a tight seal against the inner wall of the pipe, the inside of the cover for an air flow opening in the pipe, and an inner wall of an air guide element branching off the pipe. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Air flow through a pipe (1) is regulated via at least one air flow opening provided in the pipe between its two open ends. The openings can be sealed by a cover and the flow of air through them is controlled by sliding an apertured flow control plate (7) in and out of the pipe via the opening. The plate contains one or more holes (8,10), at least one of them (8) being adjustable in order to vary air flow. The air flow opening is formed by an air guide element (4) branching off from the pipe between its two ends. The shape of the flow control plate ensures it provides a tight seal against the inner diameter of the opening cover, the inner wall of the air guide element between two diametrically opposed sections of the element, and part of the pipe inner wall.
