Abstract

A sample cassette has a cavity (28) with a vacuum and a flow path for a liquid sample connected to an opening in the cassette. A membrane (30) isolates the cavity. When the membrane is penetrated a preset amount of liquid is drawn into the flow path. The membrane may be at the opening. It can be penetrated by a needle (18) and resume its shape and function after the needle is withdrawn. Measurement cell(s) (32) may be in the flow path and connected via an interface (32A) to external analysis equipment
