Abstract

The finely divided fuel is burnt in a solid fuel burner with a furnace with a grate (1) and a fuel supply magazine (2) with a dispenser outlet (15) for supplying the fuel to the grate. A gas combustion chamber (3) linked to the furnace is provided with controllable inlets (4,5) for supplying primary and secondary combustion air. The fuel is made to burn longer by guide rails positioned downstream from the grate in the burner with respect to the flow direction for the emitted exhaust gases. The rails make the exhaust gases flow in a spiral fashion around an imaginary length axis (20) passing through the combustion chamber, towards the relatively cool exhaust gas outlet (31) from the burner.
