Abstract

The device for homogenising and drawing off a liquid in a vessel (10) comprises a circulation pump (12) linked to a feed pipe (18, 20, 22, 24) that has an inlet (19, 23) at the opposite end to the pump, and also linked to return pipe (18, 20, 22, 24) that has an outlet (19, 23) at the opposite end to the pump. During use a vertical run-off pipe (28) is linked to the pump. Valves (32, 34) in the return and run-off pipes are used to control the flow area in these pipes. A method for homogenising and drawing off liquid in a vessel is also claimed, in which homogenisation is brought about by the circulation of the liquid, caused by sucking in liquid from a set height in the vessel and then spraying it back into the vessel at a different height, whilst liquid is only run-off when the spraying of liquid has partially or completely stopped.
