Abstract

The useful signal formed by mixing the transmitted and received signals takes the form of a difference signal, deviation signal, with one wave for each target. The frequency, amplitude and phase of the waves contain target information and the deviation signal is sampled. Disturbances in the deviation signal are detected and eliminated in the time domain and the deviation signal is reconstructed over the disturbed part by extrapolation starting from the undisturbed sample. Extrapolation is effected from both directions, starting from both earlier and later undisturbed samples. The disturbed part of the deviation signal is extrapolated as linear combinations of the undisturbed sample. An FIR filter is used for the linear combinations. The coefficients in the linear combinations are determined by means of adaptive methods.
