Abstract
A polymer film is laminated to a metal sheet or strip. In one and the same line and in sequence, an adhesive is applied as a dry electrostatic powder, the powder is heated so that it melts and the film is calendered to the metal. The metal sheet or strip has a conversion coating that contains an organic component. The conversion coating is applied as a water solution that is dried to leave a conversion coating that is preferably thinner than 1 mu m. The organic component in the conversion coating makes the adhesive adhere better to the metal.
