Abstract
A microstrip line (2) is connected to a waveguide (7) using an arrangement built into a housing (5). The microstrip line is formed on a substrate (3) with a ground conductor (4) underneath. Beneath the conductor a space is formed (6) and this has a stepped profile increasing in cross-section down to the waveguide. The cross-sectional shape can also be linear or parabolic. The ground conductor has a gap formed (9) and then continues as a suspended section of quarter wavelength length to the waveguide connection point.
