Abstract

The friction wheel (3) transmits movement between driving and driven members with which the shaft (4) is parallel. The wheel is divided into a large number of segments (8) sliding axially for a limited amount in both directions in opposition to centring springs to control the speed, and which are not in contact with each other. Portions (16,17) on the shaft and wheel work together to allow the wheel to slide axially, while preventing it turning in relation to the shaft.
