Abstract

The device is selective and only harms growing weed seed and plants early in the life cycle. The required energy amt. is small, with four-sided pulses with an optimal field strength between 100 and 300 kV/m of short duration (10-100 microseconds). A converter (2) can be placed on a sowing machine for conversion of electrical or mechanical energy to high voltage pulses. The energy can be delivered from a towing tractor via a power transmission (1) or from a local power source. The high voltage pulses are applied via two or more applicators (3) at a fixed mutual distance from the earth around the freshly sown seeds in the form of short-duration pulses.
