Abstract

The shopping trolley is equipped so that the customer can serve him or her self even when passing through the shop cash desks. It has a payment terminal, comprising a central unit (101) for processing data and signals, two label readers (102,103), one (102) for reading shelf labels and the other (103) for reading goods labels, and an indicator (110) for detecting alterations in the trolley load. A device (106) incorporating a clock (107) analyses the time taken to purchase an item. This time is simultaneous with that taken to read a shelf label and a corresp. goods label, together with a directly following alteration in the trolley load. The central unit incorporates a memory (104) for storage of goods types, prices and wts. for labelled goods, for storage of purchases made and accumulated price and wt.
