Abstract
The depth measurement is effected with echo pulse radar in fluids by measuring only the total time for pulse reflections through both the air over the fluid surface and through the fluid down to the container bottom. With knowledge of the constant distance (H) from the pulse transmitter (4) to the container bottom (3), and the pulse speed partly in air (c1) and partly in the container fluid (c2), the fluid height (H-h) can be calculated as a function of the bottom reflection time, where h is the distance from the transmitter and the liquid surface. If T is the time taken by the return pulse, the fluid height can be solved using equations : 2h=c1t1, 2\*(H-h)=c2t2, and t1+t2=T, where t1 and t2 are the pulse passage times through the air and liquid portions respectively, and h is the distance between the receiver/transmitter and the liquid surface.
