Abstract

An elastic coupling element for toque transmission consists of a bonded assembly of a hub (1), an elastic middle annulus (2) of elastomeric material and a rigid outer annulus (3) of plastics, esp. glass fibre-reinforced polyamide. Pref. the elastomeric material is a natural or synthetic rubber, esp. styrene-butadiene rubber, natural rubber, silicone rubber, chloroprene rubber or related rubbers or their mixts. Pref. the hub (1) is made of plastics, e.g. glass fibre-reinforced polyamide. Also claimed are processes for prodn. of the coupling element. USE/ADVANTAGE - For high torque transmission, e.g. in the drives of ships, locomotives and heavy vehicles. The coupling element is simple to mfr. and has homogeneous hardness and stress distribution between the middle and outer annuli in the circumferential and axial directions, resulting in long service life.
