Abstract

The towing hitch, partic. for lorries, has a housing with jaw, into which the eye end of a towbar is inserted, for engagement by a round-section pin, turning and sliding in the housing. A lever mechanism in the housing engages and frees the pin. On unhitching, the lever mechanism (5) turns the pin (7) in addition to sliding it. It can be arranged to do this only at the end of the unhitching movement. USE/ADVANTAGE - Turns pin into a new position each time it is used, thus ensuring an even rate of wear all round it.
