Abstract
A method of analyzing with regard to an analyte in a liquid sample comprises indicating the presence of the analyte by determining the resultant change in the refractive index at a fixed optical surface in contact with the sample, which change is caused by the analyte bringing about or influencing the binding or release of a refractive index-increasing component to or, respectively, from the optical surface. According to the invention, the determination is effected using light which has a wavelength at or close to the maximum for the negative derivative of the absorptance with regard to the wavelength of the refractive index-increasing component in order to obtain maximum sensitivity. <IMAGE>
