Abstract

A mat (1) for games in which clubs are used, e.g. a teeing-up mat for golf, is comprised of a ground fabric (2) from which there extends a pile (3). The pile (3) consists of alternating longer (6) and shorter (7) piles which give the mat (1) different degrees of hardness in different layers. The longer pile (6) is appropriately a cut pile while the shorter pile (7) is appropriately a terry or looped pile. The pile is locked to the ground fabric by a binder of plastics or rubber material. <IMAGE>
