Abstract

The two-disc clutch for a motor vehicle, consists of a clutch housing (4) fastened to the engine flywheel (2). The housing (4) encloses two discs (9, 10) each of which has a hub (12, 13) with splines (15, 16) formed in the bore. These splines (14, 15) engage splines on the gearbox input shaft. At least one of the hubs (14, 15) is provided with an automatic lubrication system. The hub (13) has a ring of blind holes (20) on the side facing the hub (12) of the other disc. Each hole (20) forms a reservoir for lubricant (25) and is fitted with a piston (21) which projects beyond the face of the hub. As the clutch linings wear the two discs (9, 10) move closer to each other causing the pistons (21) to be driven further into the holes (20) so that the lubricant is driven into the circumferential groove in the bore of the hub (13) and so lubricates the splines. USE - Clutch for motor vehicles.
