Abstract

A method for checking the working capacity of a plasmatron electrode consists in measuring the plasma arc acoustic radiation frequency and considering the electrode to have no working capacity at a nominal value of the operating current in case of a spasmotic increase of that frequency by more than 1.5 times. A device for implementing the method comprises a unit (7) for measuring the plasma arc (12) acoustic radiation frequency, connected through a delay element (18) to a commutating unit (9) of a power source (10) and to a signalling unit (8), and through a limiter (19) of the controlled signal level to a regulator (17) of the operating current value.
