Abstract

The engine starter mechanism comprises a wheel (16) onto which a pull-rope is wound and mounted on a bearing spindle (17). The spindle is thickened (24) at its free end, and is divided by a lengthwise slot (25) into oblong segments (26,27). When the segments are pressed together, the diameter of the thickened portion is no greater than that of the central opening in the wheel. The spindle can be arranged to taper, while the segments can be elastic, resumiong their original positions after compression. ADVANTAGE - Simplicity and easy fitting to a chainsaw etc.
