Abstract

Measuring arrangement for, in ducts or vessels containing liquid or gaseous medium, monitoring changes in mass, for example as a result of erosion, corrosion or deposition, on walls 10 or other components exposed to the medium, comprising an indicator part 11, a detector part 12 and a member 13 for exciting the indicator part. The indicator part is arranged so as to be set in vibration and changes in the resonant frequency of the indicator part are used as a measure of changes in mass. Arranged on the indicator part is a temperature sensor in order to distinguish the effect on the resonant frequency as a result of changes in mass caused by temperature variations. The indicator part comprises a thin-walled section 14 which connects a fastening part 15 to a body 16, the body having a considerably greater material thickness than the thin-walled section. The body is designed with a profile and made of a material essentially the same as the component which is being monitored, and the body is arranged in the duct or the vessel so that the medium influences its mass, the resonant frequency of the indicator part being changed under essentially the same circumstances as for the component being monitored. The measuring sensitivity is determined by adapting the length and the material thickness of the thin-walled section. <IMAGE>
