Abstract

A device for actuating inductive loads in a motor vehicle is described, which on the one hand is protected against unintentional polarity reversal of the operating voltage and on the other hand performs effective suppression of the migration of rapid voltage peaks into the electrical system during actuation of inductive loads. Specifically with respect to the clocked actuation of loads, the device according to the invention is aimed at achieving to the largest possible reduction in the occurrence of waste heat and increase in the efficiency of a corresponding actuation. By virtue of reduced cooling requirements in comparison with known solutions, the use of the device according to the invention leads both to the smallest possible designs, savings in costs during the production of the devices and an increase in reliability when the vehicle is operating under adverse conditions.
