Abstract

Fibre optics are replacing electrical conductors to an increasing extent. Other problems arise in this connection, such as the brittleness of the glass and the power-damping characteristics of the joints. The number of joints is reduced by, internally and behind the outer surface of a socket outlet, storing in rings a number of wire turns which are drawn out through the socket outlet as required. Breakage is prevented by a wire being made to pass through a sleeve made of elastic material on the way in and out. <IMAGE>
