Abstract
A process for the chemical treatment of metal components preferably consisting of ferrous materials in a chromic acid solution before metallising by melt immersion, in particular before melt immersion aluminising. The treatment takes place between the cleaning of the surface and the melt immersion metallising in order to ensure and improve the wettability. The metal components, cleaned according to known processes up to the "metallically clean" state, are immersed for at least 60 seconds at a temperature of 310...355 K in a chromic acid solution having the parameters 3...45 g/l of CrO3, at least 0.06 g/l of Cr<3+> ions and at least 0.04 g/l of Fe<3+> ions and dried at a temperature of at least 350 K.
